The Nutrigenesis Approach To Intestinal Cleansing/Body Detox

WHY DO WE NEED INTESTINAL CLEANSING?

How Does Nutrigenesis Approach Lean-N-Clean work?

Diseases of the Digestive SystemMany of the foods we eat everyday contain inadequate nutrients and toxic substances, especially refined preprocessed foods with preservatives, artificial colors and artificial flavors. We often add additional "free radicals" (i.e. unstable molecules that attack our cells) to our food by unhealthy cooking methods, such as deep frying in oil or grilling on an open fire. In addition, we intentionally ingest other toxic substances, such as alcohol, nicotine and stimulants, such as caffeine and other drugs with various adverse effects. After these foods are digested, our liver must work overtime to detoxify all the foreign toxic substances so that they can be excreted through our kidneys and skin. Some of the toxic substances escape the detoxification process of the liver, especially for people who have compromised liver functions.

We clean our face everyday, but people seldom think about whether or not they need to clean their intestines. Our intestinal tract is like a plumbing system in a house, with the small intestines comparable to sewage pipes and the colon comparable to a septic tank.. When fat and debris are poured down the drain every day, the pipes will become clogged. Septic tanks need to be pumped out occasionally. Otherwise, too much waste will accumulate and back up into the house. The same phenomenon will happen to your intestines. When you pour greasy food, excessive dairy products, meats and other foods with toxic substances down your intestinal tract every day, food residues build up. Food residues, combined with mucous secreted by mucous membranes in the colon, form layers of gluey feces, which will build up in pockets and may pile up along the entire length of the colon and part of small intestines, year after year. Constipation becomes a norm. People have been known to carry 40-50 lb. of old, dried up fecal matter in their intestines. Old feces do not pass from the body with ordinary bowel movements. They need a special treatment to dissolve the glue which binds them to the intestinal wall. If you let these decayed food residues accumulate in your intestines, you will suffer from AUTOINTOXICATION (also known as autotoxicosis, enterotoxication, intestinal intoxication or self-poisoning), which is a disorder resulting from absorption of the waste products of metabolism, decomposed matter from the intestine, or the products of dead and infected tissue as in gangrene. The toxins can be carried by the blood stream to all parts of the body and end up in every cell, leading to various forms of illnesses. Some symptoms are: flatulence, constipation, hemorrhoids, headache, acne, skin eruptions, bad breath, foul body odor, irritability and depression. This also explains why many elderly people have bowel obstruction, toxic colon, polyps, diverticulosis, diverticulitis, rectal bleeding or perforation, colon cancer and other intestinal problems.

Lean-N-Clean is a mixture of water soluble fibers, detox herbs, and whole foods with high nutritional values. These fibers can absorb up to 14 times their weight of water. This water fiber mesh, together with the cleansing herbs, is similar to a large sponge and detergent. They soak up and cleanse away your body's waste and impurities. The intestinal cleanser speeds up the removal of toxic waste and prevents the toxins from being absorbed into the blood stream and distributed to every part of the body, including the skin. The natural vegetable/fruit fibers (Apple Pectin, Psyllium Husks and Guar Gum) in this formula also supply preferred energy source for the colon cells. Chlorophyll in the alfafa leaf plus nutrients from Irish Moss, Aloe Vera extract, Milk Thistle and Marshmallow Root help to repair the damaged cells and stimulate new cell growth. Dandelion Root and Milk Thistle are the two major herbal ingredients that help with liver detox.

Another interesting feature of this formula is that, besides adding bulk to the stool keeping it moist and soft, it can also be taken for diarrhea, especially diarrhea from food poisoning. If taken for diarrhea, drink about half the amount of water as normally recommended. Due to their enormous absorbing power, the fibers in this formula will absorb the excess liquid with toxic waste in the intestines and the other ingredients in the formula will help kill the diarrhea-causing bacteria and repair the damages they have inflicted.

For instructions on how to take the Lean-N-Clean read Direction For Use.

The Nutrigenesis Approach To Colon Cleansing/Body Detox

STAGE ONE:

Take Nutrigenesis Approach Lean-N-Clean (hereafter referred to as Lean-N-Clean) once a day for the first one or two weeks, then advance to 2 doses a day for 6 weeks, then advance to 3 doses a day for 4 to 6 weeks, then 1 to 2 doses a day for maintenance thereafter. Be sure to take at least 3-4 cups of water with each dose.

These step-up measures are necessary to avoid severe cleansing reactions. Cleansing reactions occur when you attempt to cleanse too quickly. Cleansing reactions may include but not limited to headache, skin eruption, constipation, and other symptoms you are suffering due to the accumulated toxic substances being released too quickly, but they will disappear gradually. Your abdomen may swell considerably due to the old feces swelling up with water in the process of being softened by intestinal cleanser giving you the "bloating" feeling. You may also experience temporary increases in gas in your colon. Meanwhile, the toxins trapped in dried up fecal matter are being released. (Note: older people who have never done intestinal cleansing usually experience more cleansing reactions than people who have or younger people). Each pound of hardened feces will expand and weigh several pounds when it finally leaves the body. Once all the old feces are removed, your abdomen will not swell. When you have completed the intestinal cleansing, your abdomen will be flatter, you will have lost inches and most importantly your health will be improved. You may notice improvement or disappearance of symptoms of chronic illnesses you now have.

Lean-N-Clean is not a laxative. It is a stool softener and bulking agent that has cleansing and detoxifying properties. It does not irritate your intestinal mucosa. However, it does not relieve constipation immediately as the irritant/stimulant laxatives. If you have never done intestinal cleansing before and is experiencing worsening of constipation, bloating or gas after taking Lean-N-Clean, it is an indication that you have a significant accumulation of putrefied and dried up fecal matter in your colon. It may be necessary for you to take a stronger laxative such as senna (Sennakot), Milk of Magnesia or use saline or olive oil enema initially to help remove the re-moistened old fecal matter (May use enema daily until the initial constipation is overcome). However, Nutrigenesis Approach 3-day fasting in conjunction with colonic therapy by an experienced colonic therapist is a better solution. Please read "STAGE 2" below and the "3-day Fasting Experience of a Mother and Daughter." For those individuals who are not familiar with colonic therapy, please see explanation at the end of this program or call a local health spa that offers a consultation about this service.

If you are habituated (addicted) to irritant or stimulant laxatives such as various chemical laxatives (Correctal, Ex-lax, etc.) or herbal laxatives (Senna, Cascara Sagrada, Rhubarb Root or Buckthorn), you are suffering from "lazy bowel syndrome," you might not be able to stop these laxatives right away. You need to wean yourself off, meaning you need to continue to take them in addition to taking Lean-N-Clean and decrease the dosage and frequency of the irritant laxative gradually while increasing the frequency of Lean-N-Clean gradually.

STAGE TWO: (3-day fasting with 3 colonics)

ONCE YOU ARE FINISHED WITH "STAGE ONE", TO ENSURE A MORE COMPLETE REMOVAL OF ACCUMULATED OLD FECAL MATTER IN YOUR COLON, THE FOLLOWING 3-DAY INTENSIVE CLEANSING/BODY DETOX PROGRAM IS RECOMMENDED:

This program requires abstinence from solid food for 3 days. This is not a true fast. A true fast requires complete abstinence from nutrients. You might emotionally miss food, but you will not be hungry. Lean-N-Clean and vegetable broth provide plenty of micro nutrients our body needs without solid foods and excessive calories. This 3-day fasting with Lean-N-Clean is done in conjunction with 3 colonics*.

ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF FASTING:

  1. Eat light vegetarian meals. Dinner should be eaten early in the evening.
  2. Prepare a big pot of vegetable broth with various vegetables except starchy kinds. Recommended vegetables are: celery, carrot, cabbage, green bean, bok choy, bean sprouts, onion, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, leek, mushrooms (various species), herbs for flavoring if desired (no spicy herbs).
  3. Vegetables not recommended are: Potato or any other starchy vegetable similar to potato, beans, tomatoes (too acidic). The purpose is to obtain a clear broth with no solids.
  4. Cut up vegetables in small pieces and cook in a crock pot overnight. Do not add salt while the soup is cooking. It is easier for the nutrients to come out of the vegetables if water is not salted. Add a pinch of table salt (sodium chloride) and a pinch of "No Salt" (potassium chloride) to the broth after it is done cooking or before you drink it. Do not eat the solid vegetables in the soup.
  5. Schedule 3 water colonics with you local health spa that provides such service. (You might have to call several days in advance depending on how busy the spa is.). It is recommended that the 1st colonic to be administered in the morning of Day One, 2nd colonic in the morning of Day 3 and 3rd colonic in the morning after day 3 before you break the fast. If working, schedule it before you go to work. If you work 2nd or 3rd shift, schedule your colonic one to two hours after you arise.

If you want to schedule your first colonic in the evening, you must begin the fasting right afterwards and subsequent colonics can be scheduled for evenings.
  6. If you have to work during the day you fast, simply pack at least 3 doses of Lean-N-Clean, a tall glass, a small bottle of honey or your favorite juice (mainly for flavoring), a gallon bottle of water and a thermal bottle of vegetable broth to take with you.
  7. For individuals who have excessive acid secretion at night, dissolve one teaspoonful of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in a cup of water. Keep this water at bedside and sip on it whenever you are awake throughout the night.

For the following 3 days, occupy your mind with activities other than food preparation. Do some light exercises, such as stretching and bicycling motions while lying on your back. Patting or massaging your abdomen are beneficial. AVOID extreme physical hard work or strenuous exercises, such as jogging or weight lifting.

DAY ONE:

Upon rising, measure your weight without clothes, and your abdominal size (about one inch below your belly button). Drink 1 dose of Lean-N-Clean as directed on product label. Do some light exercise about 10 minutes to stimulate bowel movement (BM). Try to have a BM before going for the 1st water colonic.

The purpose for the first colonic is to flush out as much loose fecal matter in your colon as possible before taking the Lean-N-Clean so as to allow the intestinal cleanser and hot broth to get closer to the stubborn old fecal matter attached to the mucous membranes of the colon to moisturize and soften it for easier removal. The therapist should massage your abdominal area to help loosen up any old fecal matter in your colon. Watch closely what comes out of you. Ask your therapist for explanations if necessary.

Continue to take Lean-N-Clean around your meal times or whenever you are hungry. Drink the vegetable broth hot (as hot as you can drink it, since warm liquid can clean better). Drink about 2-3 cups in between doses of Lean-N-Clean.

DAY TWO:

Upon rising, measure your weight and abdominal size, then drink 1 tall glass (2 cups) of water. Drink a dose of Lean-N-Clean whenever you are hungry (3-4 doses per day). Drink the vegetable broth hot, in-between meals as on the first day. Do some light exercises, pat and massage your abdomen.

DAY THREE:

Upon rising, drink a dose of Lean-N-Clean right away. Do some light exercises if you have time, then go for your 2nd colonic scheduled in the morning. Observe the result. Measure you weight and abdominal size after the colonic. Continue to do the same as 2nd day.

THE DAY AFTER FASTING:

Drink a morning dose of Lean-N-Clean, then go for your 3rd colonic. This colonic is intended to remove the most stubborn residual fecal matter that escaped the 2nd colonic. After the 3rd colonic, you should have very good appetite. However, don't indulge too quickly, because your body has to be conditioned to eating solid food again. Measure your weight and abdominal size first, then eat one or two pieces of fruit for breakfast. Eat light vegetarian meals such as salad & soup for the rest of the day.

After the third colonic, start taking Suprema-Dophilus capsule 2-3 times a day for a couple of weeks to replenish your body with friendly bacteria. See What are probiotics regarding how probiotics can help keep our intestines healthy.

MAINTENANCE THERAPY:

For those individuals who want to stay on a maintenance intestinal cleansing therapy, take Lean-N-Clean once or twice a day. Lean-N-Clean is safe to take as long as you wish. The 3-day Intensive Cleansing/body Detox Program is recommended at least twice a year to help Nature keep your body healthy.

WEIGHT-LOSS CONCERN:

For individuals who need to lose weight, this program will definitely help them lose weight and inches. But they must continue to control their diet to avoid taking in more calories than they expand. They can start back on Lean-N-Clean for a few weeks any time they want to maintain the weight within 5 lb. above ideal body weight. For those individuals who do not want to lose weight, don't panic. Most of the weight you will lose is the garbage that will come out of your intestines. After you are cleansed, your ability to absorb useful nutrients will improve and you will be able to better utilize the food you eat. You can regain the weight you lose easily if you wish.

* COLONICS are colon irrigations using many gallons of warm water. Several ounces at a time are given by the colonic operator, usually a Certified Colon Therapist, with the water flow and expulsion under the control of the operator, while the patient lies relaxed on an appropriate table which is connected with the colonic equipment. A colonic usually takes 30 minutes to complete. The therapist should massage the patient's abdominal area with one hand to help loosen up the old fecal matter attached to the mucous membranes of the colon wall while controlling the water flow with the other hand. An experienced colon therapist can feel the water movement in the patient's colon and can tell if there are obstructions in the colon. The person receiving the colonic can observe what passes out from his/her colon by looking at reflection of the colonic tubes in the mirror hung on the ceiling. A colonic is much more effective in cleansing the entire colon if done the right way whereas an enema can only take care of the descending colon, which is only about one third of the entire colon.

COLON CANCER STATISTICS & PREVENTIVE MEASURES

How Does Nutrigenesis Approach Lean-N-Clean work?

Colorectal cancer (carcinoma of the colon and rectum) varies widely in frequency and in different parts of the world. In U.S.A., colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men and the third among women. By examining the following statistics we have on hand, one can derive without new extensive experimentation, the most likely causes of colorectal cancers.

  • Colorectal cancers occur commonly in North America, Northwestern Europe and New Zealand. The risk is much less in South America, southwest Asia, equatorial Africa and India. The incidence varies from 3.5 per 100,000 in India to 32.3 per 100,000 in Connecticut. In U.S.A. colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among males and third among females.
  • Within the United States, colorectal cancers vary in rate in different regions. The highest incidence is in the Northeast. People in the United States with specific types of diets are remarkably cancer free. Utah with a high concentration of Mormons has the lowest incidence of cancer death rate. The Mormon Church doctrine does not condone the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, coffee and tea. Instead it promotes the use of grains, fruits, vegetables and wholesome herbs. Seven-Day Adventists, mainly vegetarians have low incidence of colorectal or other kinds of cancers.
  • Migrants from part of the world with low incidence to regions with a higher risk, such as the United States and Canada, show a rapid increase in incidence.
    • Puerto Ricans who have migrated to the mainland have a higher incidence compared to those in Puerto Rico.
    • First and second generation Japanese and Chinese immigrants to Hawaii and the Mainland United States also show increase in incidence compared to Japanese in Japan and Chinese in the Peoples' Republic of China.
  • The risk of colorectal cancer begins to increase from the age 50 and rises sharply at age 60; with each succeeding decade, the risk doubles, reaching a peak by age 75.
  • Other risk factors for colorectal cancer. People with the following bowel diseases or conditions have higher risk for colorectal cancer:
    • Associated disease: Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's colitis.
    • Personal history: colorectal cancer, polyps, female genital or breast cancer.
    • Family history of colorectal cancer.

Environmental factors, especially diet are the most likely culprit of colorectal cancer. In countries of high incidence of colorectal cancer, the majority of people are on a high meat and animal (saturated) fat diet with low consumption of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Fat intake, not only the amount, but also the type of fat, has been correlated with the risk for colorectal cancer in many studies. Consumption of saturated fat (with a high content of animal fat) has been reported to be related to a higher incidence of colon cancer. In countries with higher incidence of colon cancer, the average of fat content in the diet is about 40% of total calories, in contrast to the dietary fat content of 15 to 20% or less of total calories in countries with low cancer incidence.

In countries with low cancer incidence, people usually consume more fibers from grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Fiber is not a single chemical substance. Certain components in fiber may be helpful in reducing the risk of cancer by diluting and binding carcinogens in the lumen, by modifying colonic bacterial flora and by acidifying the colonic lumen by short-chain fatty acids. In addition, fiber decreases the transit time of food in the gastrointestinal tract and speeds up the removal of waste stored in the colon. This allows less time for the body to absorb chemical waste or toxins produced by bacteria through the process of putrefaction.

Among people on a high meat and animal (saturated) fat diet, chronic constipation is usually accepted as a norm. It is not unusual for this group of people to have a bowel movement only every two to three days or once a week. When protein decays in a lazy colon, a highly carcinogenic hydrocarbon, called 3-methylcholanthrene, and other substances are formed with the evolution of ammonia or its derivatives and hydrogen sulfide; characterized usually by the presence of toxic or malodorous products. One can imagine what the damages this toxic buildup can do to the tissues of the colon. To use a common sense analogy, kitchen garbage left in the house can fill up your whole house with foul odor after one or two days.

One of the main reasons that the risk of colorectal cancer increase with age is that most people are ignorant about intestinal cleansing and they allow the accumulation of putrefied food residue in their colon for decades. Other factors that have been postulated to play a role in colorectal cancer are excess caloric intake, obesity and inadequate intake of calcium and vitamin D. People who suffer other bowel diseases are more prone to colorectal cancer. Polyps can slowly develop into cancer. We often hear that cancer is hereditary. However, if you examine the above statistics carefully, it is easy to realize that the hereditary factor is in reality mostly an inheritance of unhealthy eating habits and the ignorance of intestinal cleansing.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES FROM NUTRIGENESIS APPROACH

Current medical practices do not put enough emphasis on preventive therapies for colon cancers or other kinds of cancers. Most medical doctors do not give nutrition consult to patients due to the fact that they received very little education in nutrition and secondly, they have little time, if any, to talk to their patients about preventive therapies. In addition, physicians are in the disease business. They are educated in how to cure diseases using drugs, surgeries and radiation after the diseases have already occurred. Many physicians and pharmaceutical companies look at preventive therapies as a conflict of interest to their practices and industries.

Among the recommendations from the National Cancer Institute, routine intestinal cleansing and body detox measures are obviously missing. After I became a nutritionally oriented pharmacist, it frustrates me to see patients with chronic metabolic diseases being subjected to multiple drugs therapies without much effort to investigate the real causes of the diseases. During my 20 years of practice in hospital pharmacy, physicians prescribing 15 to 20 drugs, especially for older patients are quite common. There are no easy ways to understand all the drug interactions that can possibly happen when these many drugs are being taken concurrently. Those physicians and pharmacists who pretend they know all the drug interactions are fooling their patients and themselves. Often times, some of the drugs are being prescribed to counteract the side effects of other drugs. Our body must detoxify all drugs. Our liver is the most hard-working detoxifying organ. We have the detoxifying enzyme system in our liver called the "P450" system for short. However, it can be overwhelmed easily by too many drugs or other toxic substances. Simply put, you are doing your liver, your kidney and your body a big favor if you can maintain your health without drugs. Human beings are not meant to live on drugs.

We are still at the beginning stage of understanding the significance of nutrition in relation to diseases. We must investigate the wisdom of legends in the medical fields from years past. Shin-huang-ti, the Ch'in era physician who compiled the "Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine", said: It is diet, which maintains true health and becomes the best drug. Hippocrates, the father of Medicine said: A disease is to be cured naturally, by man's own powers; physicians merely help. Let your food be your medicine.

The following are the recommendations from Nutrigenesis Approach as preventive measures for colorectal cancer or other cancers in addition to the preventive measures presented by National Cancer Institute:

  • Intestinal cleansing and body detox to hasten the removal of toxic buildup in our body on a regular basis using safe and non-habituating methods. Please see the section on NUTRIGENESIS APPROACH TO INTESTINAL CLEANSING/BODY DETOX for more details. Follow Nutrigenesis Approach Intestinal Cleansing Program initially. After the program, take Lean-N-Clean 1-2 times a day. Repeat Stage II of this program every 6-12 months.
  • Avoid intake of all known toxins, which include chemicals approved by FDA to be added to our foods including but not limited to preservatives and artificial sweeteners.
  • Reduce fat intake to < 15% of calories.
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy is of limited benefit since it only reviews the condition in the sigmoid colon. People who eat a high fat diet consisting of abundance of meat, cheese and dairy products should schedule for a colonoscopy much earlier in life (probably as early as age 35) to monitor their colon health. If you wait until you already have visible symptoms, you might have already acquired colon cancer. The current recommendation by medical field for colonoscopy every 5 years after age 50 is too long and too late in life. It is best to be done as part of annual physical checkup. This procedure is expensive; however, it is hardly as expensive or as painful as "chemo" therapy, radiation therapy or surgery, which can poison and burn the normal tissues of the body and spread the cancer, leading to earlier death.

Enough money and time have been spent in finding cures for cancers without great success. It is time to concentrate on prevention, not just early detection.

Preventive measures presented by National Cancer Institute:

  • PRIMARY PREVENTION: Identifying factors, either environmental or genetic responsible for colorectal cancer.
    • Reduce fat intake to < 30% of calories.
    • Increase dietary fiber to 20 to 30 grams per day.
    • Include a variety of vegetables and fruits in the diet.
    • Avoid obesity.
    • Consume alcohol in moderation if at all.
    • Avoid cigarettes and tobacco.
    • Exercise regularly.
  • SECONDARY PREVENTION: Identifying and eradicating pre-cancerous lesions while still curable.
    • Annual digital rectal examination after age 40.
    • Testing for fecal occult blood annually after age 50.
    • Flexible sigmoidoscopy every 3 to 5 years after age 50. Patients with abnormal findings require more careful diagnostic evaluation, including colonoscopy.

What is flexible sigmoidoscopy? Flexible fiberoptic sigmoidoscopy (FFS) is the photographic examination of the sigmoid colon, which is the lower part of the descending colon with a flexible instrument about 60 cm or 2 feet long. FFS preparation uses only 2 enemas. It is not usually done unless there are symptoms such as rectal bleeding, or suspicions of some types of colon diseases.

What is colonoscopy? Colonoscopy is the photographic examination of the entire colon with a flexible instrument about 180 cm or 6 feet long. This instrument also has the capability of removing polyps or adenoma (benign tumor of glandular structure) if found during the procedure. Colonoscopy requires a two-day liquid diet preparation and the bowel must be totally cleansed with large volume of isotonic solution. Colonoscopy is currently recommended every 5 years for people over age 50 or when polyps or cancers are suspected in other parts of the colon other than the sigmoid. This procedure is very expensive and is usually not reimbursed by many insurance companies as part of a routine checkup unless your gastro-enterologist suspect the presence of certain colon diseases.

The Nutrigenesis Approach To Colon Cleansing/Body Detox

3-Day Fasting Experience of a Mother and Daughter:

My 3-day fasting experience with Nutrigenesis Approach Lean-N-Clean® (Hereafter referred to as Lean-N-Clean®) in conjunction with colonic* therapy for the purpose of intestinal cleansing/body detoxification.

(Narrated by Diana Chauvin R.Ph, B.C.N.S.P.)

Previous Fasting Experiences:

Trial 1: I, (Diana, age 50) had tried juice fasting and did not make it through 2 p.m. the first day due to severe hunger pain and craving for food.

Trial 2: I fasted for one day with Lean-N-Clean®. I completed the fasting successfully without hunger pain, food craving or signs of weakness. I was able to devote the majority of my time to other work not related to the fasting endeavor. This was accomplished with 3 doses of Lean-N-Clean (one each for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and about 6 cups of hot (temperature-wise) vegetable broth (no solids) in-between.

3-Day Nutrigenesis Fasting Experience In Conjunction With 3 Colonics:

I must clarify that this is not a true fast. A true fast requires complete abstinence from nutrients. Lean-N-Clean® and vegetable broth provide plenty of micro nutrients our body need without solid foods and excessive calories.

One day prior to beginning of fast: Ate light meals, no meats, mostly vegetables and fruits. Ate dinner early. Prepared two big pots of vegetable broth with various vegetables except starchy or acidic types of vegetables such as potatoes or tomatoes.

Day One:

Upon rising, I measured my weight without clothes and abdominal size. Then I drank 1 dose of Lean-N-Clean® with 3-4 cups of warm (room temperature) water. I did light exercise about 10 minutes to stimulate bowel movement (BM). I had one BM before going for first water colonic, scheduled about 10 AM at a local health spa.

The purpose for the first colonic is to flush out as much loose fecal matter in our colon as possible before taking the Lean-N-Clean® to allow the intestinal cleanser and hot broth to get closer to the stubborn old fecal matter attached to mucous membranes of the colon to moisturize and soften it for easier removal. Result of first colonic was non-remarkable. Therapist patted and massaged our abdominal area in an attempt to loosen up any old fecal matter in the colon. Through the outgoing colonic hose, we passed out what looked like mostly fresh food residues mixed with some small old pieces. I took 3 doses of Lean-N-Clean® that day around our meal times. Each dose was taken with 2 teaspoonfuls of honey added and 3-4 cups of water. I drank hot (temperature wise) vegetable broth (about 2-3 cups) in between doses of Lean-N-Clean®. No time was spent on food preparation. I spent most of my time on light house work and paperwork. I did stretching exercise on the floor about 15-20 minutes. I stayed alert and energetic all day. I went to bed comfortably without hunger pain, food craving or weakness

Day Two:

Upon rising, I measured my weight and abdominal size, then drank 1 tall glass (2 cups) of water. I waited until we were hungry to drank our first dose of Lean-N-Clean®. I had 2 average size BM that morning. My BM took on the shape of ropes. We took another dose of Lean-N-Clean® whenever I was hungry for a total of 3 doses before I went for a second colonic, scheduled around 5 PM. I drank hot vegetable broth in-between as on the first day.

2nd colonic experience: Therapist patted and massaged my abdominal area as she did during the first colonic. 15 minutes into the colon irrigation, she stated that she did not feel the water sloshing around in the ascending colon. Meanwhile, I was feeling water pressure building up in my abdomen. She indicated that I had some obstructions in the colon. I did not see excessive fecal matter coming through the outgoing colonic hose. When she finally finished the session after 30 minutes, I still felt quite a lot of pressure built up in my abdomen. When I sat up and put my feet on the floor, I felt an immense urge to move my bowel. I rushed to the toilet, sat on the commode and raised my feet on a 6 inch stool (to realign the colon). I heard what sounded like an explosion inside the commode. When the explosion was over, I was stunned to find that the commode was half filled with the most ugly, foul-smelling black, slimy, pasty and twisted looking old garbage that ever came out of my body. My daughter came into the bathroom to witness the result. I thought my intestines were pretty clean before until I saw what came out of me after 2 days of fasting, 3 BMs and 2 colonics! At the end of the second day of fasting, my abdomen felt much flatter and softer and I had a very good sense of wellness. I lost 2 inches around my abdominal area so far.

Day Three:

I had to go to work on that day. That morning, I packed 3 doses of Lean-N-Clean®, one gallon bottle of water and a thermal bottle of vegetable broth to take to work with me. I took a dose of Lean-N-Clean® whenever I was hungry and drank hot broth in between. I felt good all day. I did not run short of energy or feel weak as everyone would expect. I spent a minimal amount of time drinking, which did not interfere with my work. Interestingly, I did not have one single BM on this third day of fasting. I went through the 3rd day of fasting comfortably and uneventfully.

My 3rd colonic was scheduled on the morning after the 3rd day of fasting (before breakfast on the 4th day). I passed about a total of 8-10 inches of fresh looking stool through the colonic tube, but none afterwards. I ate light meals the first day after fasting. The night before I ended the fast, I had a dream about indulging myself in a fancy buffet restaurant with all the food I could think of in the world.

After fasting I started taking probiotic capsules 2-3 times a day for a couple of weeks to replenish our body with friendly bacteria.

End Results Of The 3-day Fast:

  1. I lost 6 pounds and 2 1/2 inches around my abdominal area. More than half of the weight I lost was attributed to the old garbage I got rid of from my intestines. (My starting weight was 122 lb. and my ending weight was 116 lb.)
  2. I am experiencing a feeling of wellness that I have not had for years. There is no pain anywhere in my body. I often woke up with a smile on my face, planning my activities for the day before I got up. I could concentrate better and I was less tired at the end of the day. I moved around faster and had more energy.
  3. My acne on my face disappeared after the fast. I continue to take the Lean-N-Clean once a day for maintenance.

Conclusion:

  1. An elaborate and theoretically sound cleansing/body detox program serves no purpose, if a person cannot manage to finish the program comfortably without hunger pain, weakness and other related symptoms. Most cleansing programs, whether it be 7 days or 3 days require a person to be at home or in an institution under the supervision of therapists. My 3-day fasting experience with Lean-N-Clean demonstrated that an effective cleansing/body detox program can be accomplished without having to take off from work.
  2. The amount of time and effort required in a cleansing /body detox program contribute greatly to its success. The more time and effort a program requires, the less likely people will complete the program successfully.
  3. Without fasting and taking intestinal cleanser, a 30 minute colonic is only good enough to flush out the loose fecal matter comparable to flushing the toilet without scrubbing the inside of the toilet with detergent and a good brush. You can achieve a much better result with 3 colonics if you fast appropriately than with any number of colonics while you are consuming regular diets.
  4. Although colonics can be costly, everybody should realize that preventive health care can save even more money on medical care later in life, not to mention the preservation of quality of life. This 3-day cleansing/body detox program is more effective and less expensive than half a dozen or more colonics without fasting.
  5. I am convinced that this 3-day cleansing/body detox program should be done at least twice a year, throughout life, to help Nature keep the body healthy.

Result of Nutrigenesis Approach 3-day cleansing with colonics 6 months later: Did not notice much old accumulated fecal matter as I did six months ago. My colonic therapist advised me that I only needed two colonics. This proved that the program consisting of three months therapy with Lean-N-Clean® plus the 3-day fasting with three colonics was adequate to remove decades of toxic buildup in my colon.

Result of colonoscopy** two years later: I underwent a colonoscopy procedure two years later to examine the health of my colon. Since I requested no sedation for the procedure, I witnessed with my own eyes that I did not have any polyps, diverticulosis, ulcers or abnormal growth in my colon. It was such a relief for me, being a 52 year old who had suffered chronic constipation most of my life! I must mention that the 2-day fasting with clear liquid and the cathartic that must be taken to completely flush the colon before colonoscopy is not quite as easy to accomplish as the Nutrigenesis Approach 3-Day fasting in conjunction with 3 colonics.

The Nutrigenesis Approach To Colon Cleansing/Body Detox

HOW TO ASSESS YOUR GENERAL HEALTH BY LOOKING AT YOUR BOWEL MOVEMENT

Do you ever stop to smell and look at your bowel movement?
Are you the kind of person who flushes the toilet before you get off of it?

The septic tank I am talking about is YOUR COLON. That is the last part of your intestines, where the residues of your food accumulate and wait to be expelled out of your body. Most people do not realize that colon health is the beginning of all health. You can foresee your colon health and therefore your health in general by analyzing your stool. You can analyze your stool by the SMELL, TEXTURE and COLOR.

Let's discuss the smell first. Robert Gray, the author of "COLON HEALTH HANDBOOK", quoted: "he read a book that told of a yogi in India who passed perfume-scented stool from his body. He thought that phenomenon was due to a special spiritual power. He later duplicated the result in his own body while eating a diet of 100% raw fruits."

Let's examine what make people's stool smell. The temperature of a warm summer day is about 85-100 degree F. Our normal body temperature is about 98.6 degree F. So you see, our body temperature is within the range of temperatures of warm summer days. Some food, for example, milk, dairy products and meats will start to decay in a few hours at this temperature while raw fruits and vegetables might take days to start to decay. The same thing happens in your intestinal tract. It take 8 hours for the food you ingest to reach your colon. If you do not eat any fruits and vegetables, all your food will start to rot before it gets to your colon. When I stated earlier that most people are carrying a septic tank around in their bodies, it is not an exaggeration! If your stool smell is unbearable, chances are your body odor and your breadth is too. You can confirm this theory by paying attention to how your stool smells according to the kind of food you eat.

Few people can achieve perfume-scented stool, but we should try to have stool with no foul odor.

Secondly, let's examine the importance of the texture of our stool.

Constipation has become a norm in modern society. Let me illustrate this point. What percentage of households do you think has a magazine rack in the bathroom next to the commode? My observation is that it is a pretty high percentage. I used to read the Bible when I was sitting on the toilet. If you have time to read or study for your exam sitting on the commode, you have constipation. Actually if you need more time to do your #2 business than your #1 business, you have constipation! If you have to take a deep breath and then hold your breath in order to eliminate stool, you certainly have constipation. If your stool comes out looking like a collection of bullets, you definitely have constipation.

Healthy stool should be SOFT and FLUFFY. It should leave your body in a few seconds. It should break into small pieces when you flush the commode.

If you like reading materials for entertainment while you are passing your stool, you have accepted constipation as a norm.

Why do we want to worry about the texture of our stool? Constipated stool usually stays in your colon much longer. If you maintain a cesspool of decaying matter in your colon and small intestines, you will suffer from AUTOINTOXICATION . Please read the page on "Why Do We Need Intestinal Cleansing" for more details. If you do not believe what you have just read, you will find out the hard way in your later years of life while you are lying in the hospital bed wondering how you got that way. I have worked in the hospital for many years. I specialize in formulating intravenous nutritional solutions for patients who cannot eat for extended periods of time after bowel surgeries. I have had the opportunity to observe and realize that the majority of people do not have any concept of intestinal cleanliness. Eventually they end up in the hospital with bowel obstructions, which require surgery. They then realize that they might have to accept a colostomy (a surgically created opening into the colon through the abdominal wall to allow feces to drain into a plastic bag attached to it) when they wake up in the recovery room. From then on they will have to pass their fecal matter into this bag without any voluntary control and carry it around all day long!

Thirdly, let's see what we can learn about our health from the color of our stool.

Are you the kind of person who flushes the toilet before you get up from it? Are you afraid of what may come out of your body? It is not a wise practice.

The color of your stool tells you a lot about your health. Your stool can be as colorful as the food you eat. It will take up a dark green color if you eat a lot of deep green vegetables or orange color if you eat a lot of carrots. Otherwise, your normal stool color should be a YELLOWISH color. It picks up this color from the yellow pigment of the bile. Bile is secreted by the liver to emulsify the fat molecules (meaning to break them down to smaller particles so they can be easily digested). So, if your stool is GRAYISH WHITE, accompanied by a shiny layer of fat on top of the water, you might have liver disease or the bile duct is blocked by stones, therefore, the bile cannot pass from the gall bladder to your intestines. As a result, you will have trouble digesting fatty foods. If your stool is BLACK, it means that you are either taking iron pills or you might have bleeding peptic ulcer in your stomach. If your stool is bright RED and you have not ingested any red dye, chances are: you might have torn mucous membrane in your colon for some reason, bleeding hemorrhoids or more seriously, you might have colon cancer. Unusual colors of your stool should serve as warning signs for you to seek proper medical attention.

It is very important to pay attention to what comes out of your body and not just what goes in. An ideal, healthy stool should be YELLOWISH, SOFT AND FLUFFY, NON-GREASY, and FREE OF FOUL ODOR.

Nutrigenesis Approach Lean-N-Clean can help you maintain a healthy stool.
